JAYAN cinema in Javea is combating the economic crisis by showing movies in English hoping to attract the expatriate community. English films are shown three times a week as part of a package that includes a three course meal at Cafe de l’Art, including wine and coffee, for just €13.
Nearly half the population of Javea is foreign, the majority of whom are British, and yet the cinemas at shopping centres do not offer their films in the original English versions.
Jayan Cine has been running for 51 years and the idea to offer a weekly English movie started a few years ago and proved successful and the concept has returned in force, being offered three times a week.
