‘GOOGLING’ can bring up some unexpected results, but experts are still trying to figure out why searching for images of ‘Eroski Malaga’ offers the user a variety of photos of naked women. The case has become so popular on social networks and forums that it became a ‘trending topic’ on Twitter.
The reason for the results is actually quite simple.
Many prostitutes in Malaga advertise their service on the web and mention that they are close to Eroski, but this has proved to be a dangerous combination for anyone truly searching for the Basque supermarket in the city.
This also happens when looking for Carrefour, Renfe and El Corte Ingles in Malaga, but to a lesser degree.
The impact on the web has also been less noticeable and Eroski has contacted Google to put a stop to this problem.
However, Google responded that the search engine does not create the relation between the words, but simply filters the information based on the search terms introduced by the user.
The more simple answer may be to ask ‘adult contact’ sites to eliminate the word ‘Eroski’ from ads referring to the centre of Malaga city.
Eroski can even take the case to court if they can prove that the images are damaging their business.
They can also upload hundreds of their own photos with the keywords ‘Eroski Malaga’ to outnumber the naked women.
